| Incoat has developed an invisible thin film that can prevent metallic surfaces from tarnishing. The nanostructured plasma polymerized coating protects the underlying metallic substrate even in the presence of microscopic surface defects. Corrosion protection for tools and construction devices (e.g. screws) demands a thicker coating system (nanocor), which also provides wear protection and/or scratch resistance.
Current and Potential Application
|| Transparent corrosion protection thin films with nanotextured
coating systems deposited directly onto the metallic surfaces such
as light reflectors for composite substrates
|| Easy-to-clean, anti-stain, and anti-microbial coating systems can
be applied to metal and/or coated metallic surfaces
Coating Advantages
|| Plasma polymerization deposition processes at ambient
temperatures, helping to reduce cost
|| Substitution of nickel and chromium
|| Coating thickness adapted to application requirements with
minimal material consumption
|| More cost-effective compared to galvanization processes
